Olympus PEN E-P1

Excellent picture! I tried the same type of shot with the RX100 but did not succeed as well as you. I had the same triangle artifacts on bright stars, but your overall focus was much better. Did you do anything special to manually focus on infinity? Did you shoot in RAW and then convert?
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/84800636@N02] Thanks! I used Arcturus to manually focus at infinity while enlarging the display magnification. I corrected the JPEG file with Apple Aperture as this camera’s raw files are not compatible with Apple Aperture yet. Maybe the location is good.

Awesome shot of the Milky Way and the night sky from a compact.
I’m an admin for Widefield Astrophotography and we’d love it if you joined and added this image to the gallery.
What camera settings you use?
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/30889042@N05] Please refer to the EXIF for the camera settings. It’s a 20 second exposure fixed on a tripod.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/monomaniacgarage] Great shot. I too have found the Sony RX-100 creates stunning images of the stars. Can I ask how does one focus on infinity? I’m still a n00b.
