本日、容量1.58GBのOS X El Capitan 10.11.4製品版（15E65）が公開されたのでインストールしました。今回のアッデテードには以下の項目が含まれます。

  1. Adds the ability to passcode-protect notes containing personal data in Notes
  2. Adds the ability to sort notes alphabetically, by date created, or date modified in Notes
  3. Adds the ability to import Evernote files into Notes
  4. Adds support for sharing Live Photos between iOS and OS X via AirDrop and Messages
  5. Addresses an issue that may cause RAW images to open slowly in Photos
  6. Adds the ability for iBooks to store PDFs in iCloud, making them available across all your devices
  7. Fixes an issue that prevented loading Twitter t.co links in Safari
  8. Prevents JavaScript dialogs from blocking access to other webpages in Safari
  9. Fixes an issue that prevented the VIPs mailbox from working with Gmail accounts
  10. Fixes an issue that caused USB audio devices to disconnect
  11. Improves the compatibility and reliability of Apple USB-C Multiport Adapters

以下に気付いた点があれば随時、列記します。

  • El Capitan 10.11.4製品版とほぼ同時に、iPhone SEと9.7"のiPad Proの同期に対応するiTunes 12.3.3が公開された。
  • Mail Appが突然終了することがある。
  • Dictionary Appの検索結果表示順序が変わり、使い勝手が悪くなった。より具体的には例えば、"submit"で検索すると、上位にWikipediaの検索結果であるSubitism、Submillimeter Array、SUBMISSIONが最上位に表示される。

本日、OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Public Beta 5（15E56a）がApple Beta Software Program参加者に公開されたのでインストールしました。

El Capitan 10.11.4 Public Beta 5の重点エリアはPB4と同様に下記の通り。

  • iBooks
  • Messages
  • Notes
  • Photos

以下に、気付いた点を随時、列記します。

  • WordPress 4.4.2でブログ記事を編集中にSafariがクラッシュすることがある。（Flickrからリンクを張る作業中にクラッシュするのでFlickrも関係しているかもしれない。）

Microsoft Office for Mac 2011と2016用のセキュリテーアップデートをMicrosoft AutoUpdate for Mac経由で適用しました。今回のアップデートには修正以外に以下の改良機能が追加されたようです。尚、私はOutlookは使用していないので、今回のアップデートを適用していません。

Word

  • More commands (such as New, Print, and Save) are added to the Quick Access toolbar in the upper-left corner of the window.
  • When you print to PDF, the file name is now retained so that the name is not displayed as "Untitled.pdf."
  • Old format document (.doc) files that are hosted on an NFS share will open as read-only.

PowerPoint

  • You can apply the Morph transition to easily move several objects at once.
  • More commands (such as New, Print, and Save) are added to the Quick Access toolbar in the upper-left corner of the window.
  • Old format presentation (.ppt) files that are hosted on an NFS share will open as read-only.

Excel

  • More commands (such as New, Print, and Save) are added to the Quick Access toolbar in the upper-left corner of the window.
  • Old format workbook (.xls) files that are hosted on an NFS share will open as read-only.

  • Safari検索ウィンドー（アドレスバー）をクリックした瞬間にSafariがクラッシュする、1月27日に発生した障害による影響を受けなかった。

去年の1月に画像管理補正AppをApertureからPhotosに完全移行しました。Photosを使用するようになって特に大きな不満はないものの、画像補正機能がApertureほど充実しているわけではないのは事実であり、サードパーティー製の機能拡張が開発されるのを待機していたところです。そんな時にDxO OpticsPro for PhotosがMac App Storeで発売となり、期間限定50%オフ（¥1,200）で入手できるようになりました。

早速、去年のシンガポールGPで撮影した、補正のしがいがある画像2枚を試験的に補正してみました。Extensions（機能拡張）からDxO OpticsPro for Photosを選ぶと、5つの補正項目が右のサイドバーに現れます。レンズ歪曲収差、色収差などを補正するOptical CorrectionsとWhite Balance、DxO Smart Lighting、Noise Removal、DxO ClearViewです。右のスクリーンキャプチャのOptical Correctionsには使用したカメラボディーとレンズが表示されています。ボディーとレンズの組み合わせが登録されていない場合は、このような表示はありません。

ヘイズの影響を受けた今一つな画像がDxO ClearViewを適用すると、どの程度の効果が得られるのか試してみました。金融街を背景にBay Grandstandの様子をFujifilm XQ1で撮影したJPEG画像ですが、遠くの高層ビル群と空がヘイズで霞んでいます。

ほぼ見たまま撮れているわけでカメラと画像処理エンジンに何の問題もなく、どちらかと言えば、実際よりも鮮やかに写っています。コンデジとしては優れたカメラだと思います。

DxO ClearViewを適用すると、高層ビル群がくっきりと見え、適用前には気付かなかった電線も見えています。Photos標準の補正項目であるコントラストを高めに調整すると、同様の効果が得られそうではありますが、異なる点は深緑シートの背もたれ背面などの暗部が黒つぶれしていないことでしょうか。

OLYMPUS M.14-150mm F4.0-5.6を装着したOlympus E-M5 Mark IIで撮影したPharrell Williamsのコンサート画像はISOが5000になっていて、かなりノイジー。カメラの高感度耐性に問題ありと思わせるような残念な画像になっています。

ISO高めの設定でRAWで記録した画像の場合は、自動的にHQとPRIMEがサイドバーのNoise Removal（ノイズ除去）に現れるようです。上の画像はPRIMEを適用したもの。細部を残しながら暗部のノイズが取り除かれています。ノイズ除去適用時は動作が重くなりますが、このような効果が得られるのであれば、その代償だと思えば受け入れることもできます。Apertureのノイズ除去機能ではここまではっきりとわかるような補正はできないことを考えると、DxO OpticsPro for Photosを組み込んだPhotos Appは、ノイズ除去機能に関しては、Apertureを上回っていると捉えることができます。
